We've just released a new data/research tool on StockCentral -- industry averages for key ratios.
It's in the Data tab on the site. After you log in to the site, click the Data tab, and you will see two links in the red subtab bar -- one for "company" and one for "sector/industry."
Click the Sector/Industry item, and you'll see key averages for all industry groups. From here, you can do a couple of things: you can limit the list to only display the industries in one of the 9 sectors by using the Sector dropdown list at the top.
You can sort the data in any table by clicking on a column header. This will re-sort the list of industries or companies by that header item in ascending/descending order.
Click an Industry name, and you can see all the component companies of that Industry group -- as well as the averages for that Industry group itself at the top of the page. This makes it easy to compare the company to its peers and to the averages for those companies.
Click a Company name, and you can view the StockCentral Data Report for the company.
You can export any of the results in (fake) Excel format (as with the Screener results, you should ignore the Excel warning message) or display a print-ready version.
These are "raw" averages, calculated in exactly the same way that Stock Prospector has always calculated them, but of course we use Morningstar data as we do in our *.SSG datafiles. We are producing the same averages as we used to provide on the ICLUB.com web site, but now the data is updated automatically each weekend.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions for this tool.
