When trying to export a stock from Toolkit, the member sees an error such as "An error has occurred: Path not found Export aborted", or sometimes more simply "Runtime Error 76, or Runtime Error 52"

Most commonly this happens when the 'Prepared by' or the ticker symbol for the stock contain a slash such as / or \
It's also possible, but much less common that the Default Path for Export may be set to a folder that Windows considers off limits to general software.

The best palce to start is check the default location for Export:

  • With no stock studies open, go to the Options menu and select Preferences.
  • On the Preferences window, click the File Locations tab.
  • Make sure that Default Path for Export is set to somewhere common, such as the Desktop, or Documents folder.
  • If it is not, or if you can't tell where the file is set to go, click the Browse button.
  • From the window that comes up, we suggest to scroll to the top of the list, and click Either Desktop, or Documents, then click OK.
  • While still on the Preferences window, click the Stock Study, or SSG tab.
  • Make sure that what's filled in for 'Default Preparer' contains only letters, numbers or some combination of the two
  • Click OK.

You may still run into individual stocks with some issues if the Preparer, or Study By field has something other than just letters or numbers. We see this somewhat commonly with securities that are worked on by more than one person. If that happens click the DATA button when you have the ssg open, and adjust the name in the 'Preparer' box so that it does not have anything other than letters, numbers or some combination of the two.

  • Click OK
  • Save the SSG
  • You should now be able to export the ssg
