The Keep It Simple Issue 29 October 2013

MyStockPortfolio's Simply Marvelous Feature
Portfolio Tracking on a Need-to-Know Basis

We are constantly refining and improving our investing tools, and as technology evolves, so do our investor resources. A useful new tool is available through MyStockPortfolio.com enabling investors to create a tracking tool for a "simple" portfolio, which tracks only the number of shares you've invested in, not all the transactions. Similar to the way Toolkit 6 operates, the "simple" portfolio lets you look at performance on just the number of shares you own in a company. You can get up and running with this view of a stock within about 10 minutes, according to StockCentral's Doug Gerlach. Click here to learn more during the free, archived October Lunchtime Learning webinar, where Doug discussed the "simple" portfolio approach and much more.

Unlocking Toolkit's Power
Webinar Slated for Nov. 5

Our Toolkit 6 stock analysis software is the leading stock analysis program for long-term investors, and there's always more to learn about this powerful tool.

Stay on top of updates and tips for using Toolkit 6 more effectively by tuning in to Doug Gerlach's free monthly webinars that will help you become even more adept at using this versatile tool.

The next Toolkit 6 webinar is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 9 pm - 10:15 pm EST. All you need to participate is a computer with speakers (or telephone) and an Internet connection. Click here to register, and bring your questions!

One Year Ago in IAS: T. Rowe Price
Following the Fund Manager

What if we could see into the future? We might learn more looking at how we did over the past year. The Investor Advisory Service in August 2012 recommended T. Rowe Price (ticker: TROW) as a promising stock for investors, and recently the IAS took a look back at what happened to the stock during the previous 12 months.

TROW is an interesting stock because most of its assets under management have exposure to the stock market, which means TROW shares tend to magnify the broader stock market's fluctuations. We have followed this stock in IAS for 13 years, and while the market's gyrations have produced some ups and downs, the company has an attractive record for underlying growth. In 2012, we saw the effects of some market choppiness that was offset by strong stock market growth. Read more here ...

TODAY'S ENTIRELY RELEVANT QUOTATION

"Recent computational advances allow investment managers to search
for profitable investment strategies. In many instances,
that search involves a pseudo-mathematical argument,
which is spuriously validated through a simulation of its historical
performance (also called a backtest)."

David H. Bailey and Marcos Lopez de Prado of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory,
Jonathan M. Borwein of the University of Newcastle in Australia
and Qiji Jim Zhu of Western Michigan University
