Every once in a while, you'll go to open up Toolkit, Club Accounting, or one of our other programs, and after getting past the little opening splash screen, it will suddenly look like the program disappears. Sometimes you'll even look down at the bottom of the computer screen and even see the icon for the program, but clicking on it doesn't seem to have any effect. Worst of all in Windows Vista and Windows 7, you might even see a miniature version of the very thing you're looking for.

This doesn't happen too often, but when it does, it can be confusing at first to tell what's happening. For me, the most confusing can be Windows 7, since it's set up so you can have the icon for a program there ALL the time, not just when it's running. If this happens to you, here are a set of steps you can use to tell if the program is running, but has just gone off the side of the screen or not.

For Windows XP and Windows Vista:

1. Right-click on the task bar item for the program.
2. Select RESTORE. (If the Restore item is grayed-out, select Maximize, then right-click the task bar item to activate the Restore item.)
3. Right-click on the task bar item again.
4. Select MOVE.
5. Press the left arrow key on your keyboard once.
6. Move the mouse left across the screen (without pressing any mouse buttons). The program window should appear on your screen.
7. Click the mouse once to position the window on the screen.

For Windows 7:

1. Click the listing for the program on the task bar to make sure it's selected.
2. When the thumbnail image appears, put the mouse pointer on it, and right-click.
3. From the menu that comes up, select RESTORE. If the Restore item is grayed-out, select Maximize, then repeat steps 1 and 2, then select RESTORE on step 3.
4. Repeat steps 1 and 2, to get to menu of options for the program window, but this time, select MOVE
5. Press the left arrow key on your keyboard once.
6. Move the mouse left across the screen (without pressing any mouse buttons). The program window should appear on your screen.
7. Click the mouse once to position the window on the screen.
