THE YOU-ASKED-FOR-IT WORKSHOP EDITION 23 JUNE 2011

WE ASKED … AND YOU ANSWERED!
Introducing StockCentral's Newest Workshop ...  Designed by You!

In the last issue of the Gazette, your reporter dared ask THE question: What do you, our intelligent readers, want to learn more about? And you answered! (This was no surprise. Your Gazette reporter knew she could count on you!)

A great big thanks to these SC members, who offered up these top-notch suggestions:

From Priscilla McGraw:
I would love to learn a little more about working with judgments. It is such an important aspect.

From Jeff Traeger:
The three big fly wheels in the Stock Selection Guide impacting the BUY – HOLD – SELL price ranges are:

  • Predicting revenue/earnings GROWTH
  • Selecting the appropriate LOW PRICE
  • Selecting the appropriate HIGH and LOW P/E
In my mind, predicting growth is the most challenging part of the analysis process. I would like to hear John Tonsager's views on predicting growth. What is the process that he goes through before settling on a growth figure? I'd also like to hear a discussion about selecting the low price, particularly when there is a wide divergence between the methods displayed in TK6.

From Mike Jones (Wall$treet Wannabees):
We are all pretty good at screening and selecting stocks to buy. It would be good to have a seminar on identifying stocks to sell. Previous seminars were good as far as they went, but were always too generic.  Perhaps this one could look at companies that faltered or failed in the past and analyze what we would have seen had we held the stock six months before and performed a review of management and financial fundamentals.

Since we know they failed, it would be interesting to look at historical data and determine whether we would have been able to foresee the collapse.

From Chris Wissmiller:
How about Portfolio Management?

AND THE WINNER IS …

New Forum Already Under Way!

There was no "winner," per se. We looked at your ideas and we loved ‘em all. SC Community Leader Amy Rauch Neilson and Instructor John Tonsager put their heads together (a scary thought, we know), and they decided that combining some of the brainstorms that came in might be the best approach. And, of course, the other topics remain fair game for future SC Community Forum Workshops!

What we came up with is the workshop that's waiting for you right now in the SC Forum. Go check it out. One final word: Please, don't just lurk. Get involved! Join the discussion! Better yet, start one!

IDEAS WELCOME!
Name That Topic Door Still Wide Open!

And there's more good news to be had! It's not too late to submit your thoughts and ideas for an upcoming SC Forum Workshop! We love the idea of Name That Topic (your Gazette reporter only wonders why she was so slow on the draw and didn't think of this earlier. ...)

What have you been pondering, wish you knew a little more about, always wanted to know about stocks and stock studies? The door on Name That Topic remains wide open! E-mail your ideas to StockCentral Community Leader Amy Rauch Neilson at amy@iclub.com, and she will take it from there!

What BINC 2011 Has to Offer

Come join us for the 2011 BetterInvesting National Convention, Sept. 15-18 at the Cincinnati Marriott at RiverCenter, which is adjacent to the Northern Kentucky Convention Center, Covington, Ky.

PRINCIPLES – BetterInvesting is a nonprofit organization that was created 60 years ago to teach individuals what works in investing. The time-tested principles are still used every day by thousands of successful members.

MISSION – Classes at BINC are taught by BetterInvesting volunteers and home office staff, plus guest instructors. Funds raised from BINC go to help local chapters to provide a program of sound investment information, education and support that helps create successful lifetime investors

EDUCATION — BINC brings together the finest educators from across the country to expand your knowledge of investing and teach BetterInvesting principles. The convention offers a wide variety of classes and panel discussions for all levels of investors. The sessions include a Beginner Series, a training session for our volunteers that will be open to all paid attendees, technology-oriented seminars and a computer lab where you can watch software demonstrations.

FELLOWSHIP — BINC is also a place to join other like-minded people and share investment ideas in a supportive, friendly environment. BINC offers you the opportunity to meet others in the BetterInvesting community, who are always willing to share their knowledge and help others. You won't find a more open group of people who are so generous with their time and experience. So much learning, sharing of ideas and fellowship in one place makes it a great event to attend.

VALUE — Your low-cost registration includes two and a half days of outstanding investing education with over 60 classes to choose from, including more than 20 brand new ones. Your registration fee also includes a welcome party on Thursday, three breakfasts, two lunches, well-known guest speakers, corporate presentations, a corporate booth expo, town hall meetings with BetterInvesting's CEO and the Saturday night awards dinner.

We are pleased to offer a Spring Registration Special for this wonderful educational opportunity. For a low-cost registration of only $400 for BetterInvesting members and $300 for chapter volunteers, you can enjoy this exceptional event. For nonmembers, the registration is $480, which includes a one-year membership to BetterInvesting. This special pricing ends June 30, 2011. For more information, please visit our website at www.betterinvesting.org/biconvention.

FUN — BINC promises to be a fun and exciting event, which includes the welcome party and the Saturday night awards dinner.

The Cincinnati area offers many wonderful attractions, including amusement parks, world-renowned museums, historic sites, zoos, aquariums, performing arts theaters and chartered riverboat cruises along the Ohio River.

A wide variety of distinctive restaurants and bars are near the convention's location. The Main Strasse Village, for example, is a historic 19th-century German neighborhood. And Newport on the Levee, on the northern Kentucky riverfront, offers an exceptional view of the Cincinnati skyline. Both areas offer a variety of excellent fine and casual dining restaurants, antiques shops, galleries, pubs and live music (including jazz and authentic Dixieland), which makes for an ideal location to get out and have some fun.

The Southbank Shuttle is a tourist favorite that loops through the entertainment districts of Newport, downtown Cincinnati and Covington for $1 each way.

You won’t be disappointed if you join us in celebrating 60 years of successful investment education. BINC will be the place to be Sept. 15-18, 2011, for investment learning and fellowship. Plan to register today! Please visit www.betterinvesting.org/biconvention for additional information and registration details.

What does BINC have to offer you? Come to BINC and find out for yourself.
