This is going up a bit early, as I’m out of town for InvestED 2010 today, Saturday and Sunday. If you’re there (or here, since I'm actually in Baltimore at the moment), I’m likely going to be in the computer lab, or manning an ICLUB booth; come on by and say hi if you get a chance. So, this note is a bit short, but it explains how to set the resolution on Windows to match up with what Toolkit’s expecting. You’ll know you need this one if you open up Toolkit and some of the text and buttons are a little . . . . off; maybe the word ‘Ticker’ is a little outside the lines, or maybe one of the buttons on the toolbar isn’t quite lining up. Whatever the case, this is a relatively easy thing to fix. Here are a set of steps you can use for various copies of Windows:

In Windows 2000 and XP
To fix the problem, please reset your screen settings to the windows default of 96 DPI.
1. Exit the software.
2. Go to START > CONTROL PANEL > DISPLAY >SETTINGS > ADVANCED.
3. Set the font size to 96 DPI, also called NORMAL.
4. Click OK, and then OK again.
5. If Windows tells you it needs to be restarted please do so; if not, open the software again.

In Windows Vista
To fix the problem, please reset your screen settings to the windows default of 96 DPI.
1. Exit the software.
2. Right-click any open space on the desktop, and choose PERSONALIZE then ADJUST FONT SIZE (on the left hand side of the new window)
3. This will open a new window; Any dpi setting that Vista has used in the past will show up here as a selectable button.
4. Click on the button next to Default Mode (96 DPI) and click OK.
5. If Windows tells you it needs to be restarted please do so; if not, open the software again.

In Windows 7
To fix the problem, please reset your screen settings to the windows default of 96 DPI.
1. Exit the software.
2. Right-click any open space on the desktop, and choose PERSONALIZE
3. Near the bottom left-hand corner of the Personalize window, select DISPLAY
3. On main part of the Display page, click to select Smaller - 100% (default)
4. Windows will usually ask you to log out or re-start at this point. If it does not, click APPLY
5. If windows tells you that you need to either log out, or restart please do so; if not, open the software again.
