After updating Toolkit to 6.5.2 the Update Date on the screen under "Requires Attention" stays Red indicating the attention is require. However when I click on the Update Date and update any new data the Update Data stays red and if I click on the Update Data again and there is nothing to download it still stays red indicating attention is required. Please advise.

The two possibilities that occur to me are that you have companies which have not updated recently, or you may have companies whose ticker symbol(s) we don't track for some reason.

If after clicking the Update Data window, you see a dialog box appear that says some ticker symbols could not be found, then those companies will no longer be listed in the Update Data window. They will however still trigger the Update Data button to turn Red. To clear that out, you would need to go into the library, and either update ticker symbols, or delete those companies.

If you click Update Data, and the window that comes up still shows a company listed, then that company hasn't updated their data within whatever time limit is set when you go to Options > Preferences > Thresholds.

I saw this on Iclub.com and looks like they have permanently changed the Update Button to red.

Default projection line method in Preferences is now Quarterly instead of Annual.
Sample company library is updated for new installations.

Hello,

Sorry for the long delay in replying, we were out of the office for several days, and I'm still catching up on a few things.

What you proposed about the Update Data button staying red all the time is not correct. It goes red if there's a company whose data is out of date, based on the ranges set on the thresholds tab of the Preferences window. The biggest change in the preferences is the addition of options to turn off warnings about stock splits, Data Discrepancies, and alerts for companies that Toolkit can't find in the data feed.
This can effect what companies show up when you click the Update Data button. If there's a company that isn't in the data feed any longer, and hasn't been for a while, for example.
In that case, the Update Data button would be Red, but the company won't show up when you click Update Data. Instead you'll see an intermediary window listing tickers that could not be found, and won't be updated.

As an example, I started a new Harley Davidson SSG, and then made a few edits in the Data window. I changed the ticker to HDI, and then removed a few quarters of data.
That makes the Update Data button red, since the SSG is now out of date, as far as Toolkit is concerned.
When I click the Update Data button, it shows the intermediary screen, letting me know it couldn't find HDI in the data feed.

No HDI Ticker

Clicking OK there, shows the Update Company Data window, which is blank, because there are no companies that it can update data for. This doesn't change the Update Data button being red on the Toolkit 6 Home Page, since there is technically still a company with outdated information.

There are a couple of ways to go from here. If you know that the company has changed ticker symbols (as with Harley Davidson), then the easiest is probably to open the company from the Library or a Portfolio, and update the ticker symbol.
If the company has gone out of business then you can either leave it as is, if you want to save some part of the history of the company, or (as before) go into the Library and delete the listing.

If you update the ticker symbol, then the next time you click Update Data, the company will show up again, allowing you to get it up to date, and removing the red highlight from the Update Data button.

Thanks for the info. However, I have Stock Central and Better Investing in my data feed in Preferences. I Default to Stock Central. I went to File them Update Companies and selected all the companies in the Library and clicked Update. It started to update the companies and it gave me 5 AMRK, IP, PAA, RTN, TEN that it would not update. When it finished I pulled each one up and did a manual update on each one. I went back to preferences and changed to Better Investing for Updates. I went to file Update Companies and selected all the stock in the Library and clicked Update. It started to update and found 1 SWHC that would not update. When it finished I tired the manually update it but could not. I deleted it. I then went back to preferences and changed the data feed to Stock Central and went to File and Update Companies and all the stock updated. However,in Requires Attention the Update Data is staying RED. I was thinking. Can the software turn the stock symbol and name Red in the Library as it does in Requires Attention (Update Data). That way you would know what stock need attention. Please advise.
