This is a relatively new one for us; installing Club Accounting on a computer that has only ever had Windows 8 or 8.1 on it. We have run into several cases where brand new computers with Windows 8 do not have part of the .NET software that Club Accounting needs. The installer (and Windows) are smart enough to recognize this, and offer to install the .NET, but the Club Accounting install process does not start back up after doing this, so I've put together a note on how to check for the .NET piece first, so that the Club Accounting can then be installed without having to stop half way through the process.

From anywhere in Windows, hold down the Windows key on your keyboard and tap the letter X to bring up the system menu.

From this menu, select Programs and Features.

From the Programs and Features control panel, click Turn Windows features on or off.

This will open the Windows Features screen. You will see a listing for .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0). If this box has a small black dot in it, then you can click OK, close any open windows, and then proceed to download and install Club Accounting.

If you do not see a small black dot, click empty box next to the listing for .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0).

Click OK, and Windows will begin to download, and then install the .NET 3.5 that Club Accounting requires.

After downloading and installing, we suggest to then have the computer re-start.

Once the computer comes back on, you can proceed with the steps listed below to install Club Accounting.

Downloading and Installing Club Accounting.

Open your web browser, and go to our downloads page at:

http://www.iclub.com/support/downloads.asp

  • Click on DOWNLOAD link for your copy of Windows, next to the CLUB ACCOUNTING icon.
  • Fill in the information on the next page, and then click the DOWNLOAD button.
  • Click SAVE FILE (Firefox) or SAVE (Internet Explorer)
    • NOTE: Depending on the security settings in your copy of Windows, there may be an alert when you try to download or install club accounting. The alert will encourage you to delete the program, since we're not generally recognized by Windows. If you run into this, take the following steps:
First click 'Actions', then click the More Info or More Options link on the screen, and then click the Run anyway button that will appear.
  • If given the option, select DESKTOP for the save directory (you may need to click SAVE again to confirm the Desktop after selecting it.), otherise, let the browser save the file to whatever default location it has set.
  • When the download is complete, close your web browser and double-click on the installation file on your desktop.
  • Follow the on-screen installation instructions; do not change any of the default settings when installing.

If you do not see the club accounting installer window appear after trying to open the installer, check the Task Bar for a Blue and Yellow shield with a blinking background.
Click on this, and you will be asked to confirm or allow a program named setup.exe to make changes; click Yes to continue with the install.
From here, you should be able to click Accept, Install, or Next in order to complete the setup of the required files, including club accounting itself.

After Club Accounting is finished installing on Windows 8:
----
*From anywhere in Windows, hold down the Windows key on your keyboard and tap the letter X to bring up the system menu.
*From the menu that appears, left-click 'File Explorer'
*On the new window, look for and double-click the disk with (C:) in the name.
* From here, go to: PROGRAM FILES > ICLUBcentral > CLUB ACCOUNTING 3
--Note: If you have 64-bit windows, the path will be: PROGRAM FILES (x86)> ICLUBcentral > CLUB ACCOUNTING 3
* Once inside the Club Accounting 3 folder, right-click on the Club Accounting 3 program icon (it will have the same green visor on a yellow and blue back ground as the shortcut that appears on the desktop or Start menu), then click PROPERTIES.
* On the properties window, click the COMPATIBILITY tab.
* On this tab, click RUN THIS PROGRAM IN COMPATIBILITY MODE.
* Make sure the selection under this shows Windows XP (If there is more than one listing for Windows XP, choose the one with the highest number service pack)
* Also on this tab, click RUN THIS PROGRAM AS ADMINISTRATOR.
* Click APPLY, then OK.
* If you have the User Account Control (also called UAC) active, Windows will now ask you to Cancel or Allow the program when you open it.
Click ALLOW to let the program run as normal.
