Some time back, we got a laptop and I'd asked about being able to have our Toolkit 6 copy on both our main and laptop computers (laptop comes with me to our club's meetings) and was told that was permissable.  So I did it.  Everything is working, but when I open up Toolkit 6 on the laptop it consistently wants me to register my copy (which I've done a number of times).  The odd thing is that it prefills my information but always with the last letter of my name, city, etc. missing.  I've begun to say I want to "skip registration" but am wondering if there is any way to clean this up.  TK6 opens just fine on our "regular" (desktop) computer without going through this exercise.

Hi Don,

This is something we've seen in a few cases. So far it seems to only happen with 64-bit copies of Windows. Unfortunatley we haven't been able to re-create it here. That said, we've been able to work around it in several cases by setting Toolkit to run directly from the ToolkitServer.exe. I'll paste in some steps below on how to set this up. You didn't mention the copy of Windows, so some of these steps might be a bit redundant for your club.

For Windows Vista and Windows 7:

1. Close the Toolkit program.
2. Click the START MENU button in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen.
3. Proceed to: Computer > Local Disk (C:) (Depending on your copy of windows, the drive may also be labeled as OS (C:) -or- Hard Disk (C:))
4. With the C drive open, then go to Program Files (x86) > Iclub Central > Toolkit 6
5. Inside the Toolkit folder should be a file named "toolkit6server". Right click on this file to show a menu of options.
6. From this menu, select Send To > Desktop
7. Close any open windows to return to the desktop.
8. If there is a "Toolkit 6" icon on the desktop, please delete it.
9. With the original Toolkit 6 shortcut removed, right click on "toolkit6server shortcut" and choose RENAME. The link is now highlighted, type "Toolkit 6" and then hit ENTER.
10. You may be asked to register one more time when you open this new shortcut, but the registration should be saved after this.

For Windows 8:

1. Close the Toolkit program.
2. Right-click at the very bottom left hand corner of the computer screen, and then left-click File Explorer.
3. Open Local Disk (C:) (Depending on your copy of windows, the drive may also be labeled as OS (C:) -or- Hard Disk (C:))

Sean- Followed your very clear directions (am running on Windows 7) and magic followed.  The demons have been exorcised and all is running properly now.  Once again, thanks for the great support you guys at Stock Central provide!
