Forecast High Price not struck
|
A new feature in Ver. 6.4.3 was to be able to adjust the high price from the calculated forecast high. When that occurred, the old high had a strike out and the new reset price was clear. When the price is adjusted by adjusting either the Selected High P/E or Estimated High EPS in Section 4A, the new reset price is struck out, yet the original calculated price remains clear. This seems to be an unanticipated consequence of the change from 6.4.3.

We're taking at this behavior in Toolkit 6 to see what we can do to adjust it. Doug

TK 6. The 6.4.5 release that addresses the side two 'forecast high price' box is still very confusing. The release notes state: "To trigger the preference, update the company's data, and then select either the calculated high price or the manually-entered high price, and the program will use that choice going forward.' I d not find this process to work well. It appears that if I again make a change to the front page 'estimnated future earnings per share growth', the cycle is started all over again or am I missing something.
I agree after reading some of the earlier discussions there could be times when one would like to make a judgment change to the FHP. But why not make this a change available as an option in the preferences section. Forcing a user to make this option in each SSG study seems nonsensical. I think the default situation should be just as it has been forever; e.g. The 'projected high price' equals the 'selected high P/E' times the 'estimated (or as modified by the user) high earnings per share'.
Please reconsider the mechanics of this change.

One of the reasons to leave the high price feature non-automatic is that you need to make a concious decision about what the number should be. After all, you have several choices to make on the low price, so why not the same on the high side. Frankly, I like the way it is now.
