Thanks for the update. I own TXN and hope this will be a positive indicator when they release next quarter performance in October

Yes many dividend aristocrats have taken a fall in this economic turmoil. I think it says a lot about a company that still can pay the same or increasing dividends without adding debt to fund these payouts.

Here are some ideas for dividend stocks in the S&P 500. The slides reload the whole page so it is a little slower than it needs to be. Windstream just bought Iowa Telecom.

New list for the Dividend Aristocrats effective Dec 18th, 2009. For all you Rolling Stones fans yes that is Keith's birthday.

When execs get their bonuses Wall Street doesn't decry the dilution that takes place. When shareowners get their quarterly "bonus" however the same people claim it is taking away from the company. If the thought that a company's price drops when dividends are paid out, the stock would drop four times a year every year. This has not been the case for the dividend payers with a good history of running a good ship. See the attached table

RE the Seeking Alpha article, be sure to read the comments where the author admits he was wrong and agrees that stock prices *do* adjust downward on the ex-dividend date to offset the amount of the dividend payment. For most routine dividend payments, of course, that gets swamped by other factors that also affect the stock price. -Jim Thomas

Correct Jim, the price adjusts but the price of any stock "adjusts" from day to day. Most dividend payers trend up over a long period of time, which is of more interest to us.

Here are some investing ideas for dividends. Beware of the MLP's and LP's as they have more complex dividend reporting rules. I've read clubs definitely don't want these and I as an individual don't want to be refiling because of late or recharacterzation of reported dividends.

Here are some dividend ideas, some of these are repeat listings, which might be good that they are continuing to lead in that category.
