What is happening with updating your June quarterly data?   None of my stocks June quarter data is being updated.   By the web most of my stocks June quarter data is out and BI S&P data download is updating their June quarter data.  Why isn't StockCentral ????

Marie,

I just checked 8 stocks chosen off the top of my head-- companies like JNJ, FDS, MRK, PFE, XOM, BOOM. In all cases we have the most recent data. That is the 6/2008 for all of these companies, except for BOOM which has a 5/2009 quarter.

What tickers were you liooking at? If you can give me some tickers, I'll do my best to track them down and let you know why they haven't been updates

One difference between our data and the BI data is that we don't include preliminary data. This may be an issue with some of the companies, but won't know until I have some specific tickers to examine.

Thanks for your question!

AOB KNX & MFC have not been updated.

A related question:

Today In TK5 Home, Requires Attention there were 2 stocks in addition: EWBC COH.  When I updated that list the 5 remained.  But when I went to the individual SSG's and clicked "data update" EWBC and COH did have updates.  How come?

Thanks

The "Update Data" text will appear red for companies based on the Thresholds that you have set in your Preferences screen in the program. The program doesn't do any checking to see if data is actually available or not -- it only considers the number of days after the quarter or fiscal when it should check for newly reported data in your datafeed. So there may be other companies that have updates available, but those companies would not be showing up yet as companies that should be updated because they are still withing the Threshold that's been set in your Preferences.

but they DID appear on the list generated by the [default] Thresholds (or threshholds??}.  That was what was strange.

Question on Toolkit6 putting the wrong size down for a company. My Toolkit6 shows GE as a small company, along with several others. I didn't find anything in the 'find' portion of the Toolkit Manual, that would help. So, how does the 'automatic' portion of Toolkit6 get corrected? Keith B.

This is on the Portfolio Trend Report, right? I checked GE and some other large companies, and it works fine in my copy.

The program calculates the size of the company from the company's revenues, so the only way I can think of that the size would be displayed incorrectly is if the data has not been entered correctly in the first place. Are you entering data by hand, from Value Line or some other source? If this is showing up for many large companies, and you are not using the StockCentral or BI data service, I suspect that this is the problem.

The data for sales must always be entered in Toolkit in millions, so for a large company like GE, it can be a problem if you enter the data in millions instead of billions. For instance, the most recent quarter ended 9/30/08 the figure would be entered as 47,234.0 (millions)-- NOT 47.234 (billions). Last FY's revenues should be entered as 172,738.0, NOT 172.738.
