Thanks for your patience!  As you are already aware, the daily prices for Classic Plus, Toolkit, and Stock Analyst have not been updating.  Our provider for current stock prices changed their formatting, requiring us to update the software.  The update is now ready.

For the vast majority of folks, the software updated automatically, and your prices are coming in. If so, you're all set, no need to keep reading.

If your software did not update automatically, here's how to get it yourself:

1) Go to HELP > ABOUT to check your version number.
* Investor's Toolkit, version 5.1.6
* Stock Analyst, 3.2.3
* Classic Plus, 2.3.2

2) If you are not on the latest version, select HELP > CHECK FOR UPDATES.
The update will download and install immediately.

Customers on Vista
If your software does not update, you may need to set Vista to allow the update.

Full details are available on
http://www.iclub.com/sup...b/default.asp?page=vista

Again, thanks for your patience, thanks to the good people who tested the updates, and a special thanks to the customers who first reported the problem.

I'm sure my software is current: I have Stock Analyst version 3.2.5.

HOWEVER, I'm not getting the current price when i update. I've tried updating both from your web site and from Better Investing. Neither works.

what to do?

thanks, Linda

Hi, Linda -

Version 3.2.5 is the most recent version of Stock Analyst. I just tried the price updating and it worked fine. The process is somewhat complicated, so make sure you're getting all the steps.

1. Select File > Update > Prices from the menu.
2. Make sure "Internet Prices" is set in the Price Update Location section.
3. Click the "Select All" button to choose all the stocks.
4. Click the "Download Prices" button. This will retrieve all the prices from the Internet , either the most recent end of day prices or 15-minute delayed prices if you update prices during market hours.
5. After the prices are downloaded, click the "Start Update" button to save all the prices to the database.

A couple of extra notes: when you update data, you do NOT update the current prices of the stocks in your portfolio, so you'll need to run both updates to get the most recent information.

Price updating is independent of your SSG datafile subscription, so it doesn't matter what service you use for data -- or even if you don't have a data subscription -- the price updating will still work.

If you continue to have trouble, let us know!

Doug

Thanks – this works.

When did this change happen? I believe that in the olden days, maybe
a month or two ago, an update took care of both data and prices. Or have I misremembered?

Are you the same Doug Gerlach that used to work at Circle in the Square?

Linda-

I believe that Stock Analyst has always worked that way (as has Investor's Toolkit) -- the price and data updates are separate processes, and the data update function doesn't bring in the current price.

And yes, it's me! Say hello to Jim!

Dear Doug …

So now you are helping people make money instead of helping them give it away.

The time does go quickly – more quickly than I would like.
That little thing I remember sitting in his stroller must be in high school by now.

Our children grew and married and then we became grandparents.
Jim died three years ago. I’m still going to every show I can get to
(including, of course, Lincoln Center where Jim had upgraded to “patron” membership so that we would still have friends in the development office).

Have not been able to run updates for companies.

Am using Windows XP with Toolkit version5.1.6 and member of stockcentral data.

I can import the SSG from the stock central site but can not update data.

The message says "file appears to be invalid format" then "Run time error 5" and automatically closes the Toolkit program.

My Toolkit program is set for the Stock Central data source.

I have reinstalled Toolkit once already, but the same problems exists.

Thanks for any assistance.

Does this happen for every company, or just for certain companies?  Which ones?

I just did an update using TK5.1.6 and didn't find any problems.  Anything else that you can add would be helpful.

Every company I try to refresh data gives me "Invalid format" message and then "run time error 5" and automatically shuts me out of Toolkit program.

This is for both companies in my existing "library" and current company SSG's that I have downloaded from Stock Central into my Toolkit.

Since I'm not seeing this, I'd recommend that you contact ICLUBcentral's Technical Support group.  They can help you much more than I can!

Company update issues with Toolkit 5 resolved.

I found the following information through the I-club support link.

When configuring the data base subscription services under Preferences.

Fill in the username/password fields with your appropriate information.

(Note: the ICLUB Data File Subscription says "Email Address", but make sure to use your actual Stock Central username.

I changed the email address to my username at Stock Central and everything is A-OK.

Thanks
