I thought the new ticker-based Research Links page is an excellent addition and urge that everyone check it out. Just enter a ticker symbol and you are quickly taken to a new page with 64 links to specific information on that company organized into 10 sections.

Here are a few suggestions/comments:

(1) Zacks from MSN does not link to a 5 year EPS estimate which is on the Earnings Growth Rate page (for MSFT, http://moneycentral.msn....wthRates&Symbol=MSFT)

(2) MSN and Zacks.com both provide an EPS estimate from Zacks...which is OK as long as people know that they are both from the same source;

(3) Suggest renaming all EPS estimates to accomplish (2) as follows: EPS estimate from (source) via (website name);

(4) Suggest adding links to EPS estimates from First Call/Thomson Financial via Yahoo!Finance, and from FactSet CallStreet via CNNMoney;

(5) Suggest moving link to Google Finance to Chart section;

(6) Suggest adding links to Reuters Key Developments, Motley Fool articles, and Value Line Dow 30 Reports;

(7) For clarity and ease of use, suggest adding a new section on Competitors with existing link to Yahoo Direct Competitors and new links to SmartMoney Competitive Analysis and Hoovers Top Competitors (top three are free); I'd also drop link to NASDAQ's competitor list which shows some 160 for MSFT and is useless;

(8) For the same reasons, suggest adding a new section called Ratios with existing links to Reuters Ratios and to MSN Key Ratios.

For other websites that provide a ton of ticker-based links, see: Daily Stocks and GrayMetalBox

Are there other useful research links people can suggest?

The new 'research links' is great! Its a real time-saver having so many of the research resources in one place. Thanks for this improvement.

Hi Armin,

Sorry this one got lost in shuffle for a minute but i found it now and will comment on each suggestion.

(1) Zacks from MSN does not link to a 5 year EPS estimate which is on the Earnings Growth Rate page (for MSFT, http://moneycentral.msn....wthRates&Symbol=MSFT)

-i don't fully understand the suggestion here, are you saying the link under Earnings Reports & Analyst Estimates titled "MSN Money: Earnings Estimates" should link to the growth rates tab (as in the link you provided)?

(2) MSN and Zacks.com both provide an EPS estimate from Zacks...which is OK as long as people know that they are both from the same source;

- i do note that the source of the estimates is fairly clearly identified on any of the external pages, although i agree it would be best to be more clear here, this will be addressed w/ item 3.

(3) Suggest renaming all EPS estimates to accomplish (2) as follows: EPS estimate from (source) via (website name);

-sounds like a good idea, i'll see what we can do.  Maybe we should remove the 'aol upcoming events' link in that section and move that to the 'news' section and rename 'news' to 'news and events' (and inlcude e.g. the conf. call transcripts and possibly a new 'events calendar' link there).

(4) Suggest adding links to EPS estimates from First Call/Thomson Financial via Yahoo!Finance, and from FactSet CallStreet via CNNMoney;

-we can add those, i'll post here when done

(5) Suggest moving link to Google Finance to Chart section;

-not sure about that one as the google finance page that it links to contains much more than just the charts, i think i'll have to agree to disagree unless

(6) Suggest adding links to Reuters Key Developments, Motley Fool articles, and Value Line Dow 30 Reports;

-we can add those, i'll post here when done.  actually i don't know about the value line dow 30, i suppose we could add that link but it wouldn't be 'ticker-specific' like the rest.  the reuters keys and fool articles i'd think would go under the "News" category, where would we put the VL link though?

(7) For clarity and ease of use, suggest adding a new section on Competitors with existing link to Yahoo Direct Competitors and new links to SmartMoney Competitive Analysis and Hoovers Top Competitors (top three are free); I'd also drop link to NASDAQ's competitor list which shows some 160 for MSFT and is useless;

-how about we just rename that section from "Industry Comparisons" to "Comparisons" and add/remove the links you suggest?

(8) For the same reasons, suggest adding a new section called Ratios with existing links to Reuters Ratios and to MSN Key Ratios.

- i think we could leave the ratios where they are if we change the title to 'comparisons', as the reuters/msn ratios provide industry/sp comparisons.

Please let me know your thoughts/responses, and thank you very much for your suggestions!

Hey Dave:

- About (1) you wrote: "i don't fully understand the suggestion here, are you saying the link under Earnings Reports & Analyst Estimates titled "MSN Money: Earnings Estimates" should link to the growth rates tab (as in the link you provided)?"

I am saying that the present link takes everyone to the wrong page and should be changed to the link I provided (for MSFT) in order to go directly to MSN's EPS estimate for the next 5 years;

- About (2), I wrote: "MSN and Zacks.com both provide an EPS estimate from Zacks...which is OK as long as people know that they are both from the same source"

I've changed my mind and now suggest that there should only be one EPS estimate from each source (one from Zacks, one from FirstCall, etc) in order to avoid potential conflict and confusion. To choose between websites, the one that provides the most info about the estimate seems preferrable;

- About (5) you wrote: "not sure about that one as the google finance page that it links to contains much more than just the charts, i think i'll have to agree to disagree unless"

You did not finish your thought (unless what), but let me suggest two links to Google Finance by adding a new one under "Charts".

The Google Finance (Price and News) Chart is unique and especially helpful to quickly learn why a stock price unexpectedly dropped or soared: e.g., an analyst's downgrade, a better-than-expected earnings announcement, an indictment (g)

- About (7), you wrote: "how about we just rename that section from "Industry Comparisons" to "Comparisons" and add/remove the links you suggest?"

I think a section named "Competitors" is more informative and more useful than one named "Comparisons", especially if it has links to competitors.

Hi Armin,

Thanks for your continued input in helping us make this page as useful as possible.  I have made some of the changes, the rest of what i'd like to do will require more time than i have now due to investment club tax printers stuff.  I will revisit this hash the rest out as time permits.

I have 'fixed' the link to msnmoney to point to 5yr EPS estimates (i find that nice, hard to find 5yr est. imo).  I've added links to cnnmoney and added more info about source to some others.  I still wanna break that section up in future and take out the conf. call/events stuff and put into 'events' category.  also want to label each more clearly in regard to timeframe and source.

took out the nasdaq competitors as per your advice.

i will revisit each item not addressed as time permits, i will post here when further changes are made.  thanks!

dave
