Just received my 7 Mar StockCentral Gazette, which I always enjoy reading.  The note on the bar napkin instructed me to go to the 'web' button on the toolbar, then select 'manage web links'.  My toolbar doesn't have a 'web' button, hence no 'manage web links', but does have an 'options' button, which allows me to select 'internet access', and from there I can get to 'favorites' and proceed.  Then when I open an SSG, there is no 'internet' button on the SSG toolbar, but when clicking on 'data' there is an 'internet' button at the bottom which allows me to select the StockCentral option which takes me to the site.  My TK5 version is 5.1.3, and if I check for updates it says there are none available.  The ICLUBcentral website seems to confirm this.  Regardless of how I get there, I'm glad to have this new feature.

Dorothy,

I'm glad you like the Gazette - our intrepid reporter slays me We both have the latest version, and I think I may be able to help you out with the Web button. I think your toolbar may be hidden. Along the left edge of the ToolKit program there are three items at the top of the page. The topmost is the File menu. Below it is a tiny triangle that sits on the toolbar. And below that is the green Library label tab. If you can see your personal library then the green Library tab will be at the top right hand side of the personal library view. Clicking on the green library tab shows or hides the library window. The tiny triangle does the same for the toolbar. If you look under the File menu in the top left, is the triangle below it pointing up or down? If it is pointing down you will only see a thin line to the right of the triangle. This means the toolbar is hidden. Click on the triangle and it will spin to point upwards. If it is pointing upwards you will see the Ticker and Company Name entry boxes to the right, then four buttons, the fourth button is the Web button. If this does not help, or worse, does not make sense, please reply and let me know.

I also noticed that there appears to be a smudge on the illustrious napkin in question, where it said "open an SSG and click the Internet button ..." it should read "open an SSG and click the Web button again ..."

I hope this has been helpful!

Thanks,
John McHugh

John,

Thanks so much.  I have never known that toolbar exists!   It also makes the process of opening an SSG more efficient than going to file, open company, and then selecting a company from a portfolio.  Guess it proves once again that one can never be too old to learn something new.

Thanks again,

Dorothy

John,

The link worked fine in TK5.  However, I could not get SA3 to cooperate.  I was signed on but got this message:

"The requested data was not found in the StockCentral data feed."

I was signed on and did have BKS and APD open.  It would not work for either.    ???

Great Gazette, Guys!
What a miracle for everything to work for me on the first try using Firefox not IE!

John, do you use the 3.2.2 version of Stock Analyst? I tried BKS and it worked perfectly.

Be sure to do all of this set up before you select a company from your SA list.

At the Company/Favorite button in the toolbar on the SA page I used Group-Company, Sitename use *StockCentral and Use the URL at the bottom of the page
http://www.stockcentral.com/stocks//default.aspx without the ending quote mark. This is for SA users.

I used BKS and downloaded the data from BI. Next clicked on the Comp/Fav button >double click Stock Central (I was already logged onto it, I think)>Goes to Stock Research page>pick VIEW Company REPORT (not GET SSG DATA) > Goes to STOCK CENTRAL :DATA>Below Company name you can either choose Get SSG data or Take Stock. Picking Get SSG data here will automagically populate your SA with another SSG which you can then tile with the BI ssg to get a side by side comparison. Well, you must check the option to associate the download with SA (not save to disk) for this to work but it is almost magic... It is really cool!

Don't know if this helps or not.....
Good luck!

I added StockCentral.com to the Favourite links with no SSG open but when a file is open and I click on the WEB button it is not in the drop down list.  What have I missed?

Since I am also a StockCentral member, will I be able to continue to use Toolkit 5 with only the Hemscott Data Feed even if I were to be no longer a member of any competing organization that uses Toolkit? Would I continue to get support for the Tookit Software from the same people I always did? Does this competing organization still lay claim to Tookit?

Did you put the * at the beginning of the URL? That indicates it's a company specific web site address.

I'm not quite exactly sure what you mean. ICLUBcentral makes and supports Investor's Toolkit, and we will continue to support Investor's Toolkit 5 users in the indefinite future. You can continue to use Toolkit with the StockCentral data feed as long as you are a StockCentral member!

When trying to update my SSG data in Toolkit 5, I receive an invalid file format message. Which settings do I need to fix?

I'll assume that you are using StockCentral's data service. If so, you need to make sure that you have configured Toolkit with your StockCentral username (NOT your email address) and password.

For more information, read the faq entry. You'l find the faq under the 'about' tab.  If that isn't enough ... ask again!

Dorothy:  Did you get this fixed?
