Most topics have a link for "Add reply" at the bottom of the thread.  However, some have the words "Topic locked" at the end and will not accept responses.  What is the reason for this?  In some cases the poster clearly is looking for a response.

Locking a topic is an administrator option. Generally I'll only lock topics that are meant as announcements or other posts so that they will not start discussion threads.

If you've got an example of something that should be 'unlocked' just let me know ...

Joe,

The entry on exporting PERT data in the Toolshed was what generated the question.  I see that you have unlocked that now.

I'm not sure how it got locked, but I do know how it got unlocked.
